We are created to worship! Worship permeates our individual lives as we experience God's care and goodness, and listen to what God has to say to us. Public worship then is an opportunity to enjoy the mystery of this divine communion with other members of the family of faith.
The Lord's Supper is served at each service at Ascension. As we receive this meal we are acknowledging the one who encourages us to rest in His care and forgiveness.
Just as worship puts God in the center of life, our sermons are central to our Worship. We strive for high level sermons and messages. Our use of skilled oratory, personal stories and media all strive to communicate God's Word with power. It's all for God.
You will also find a variety of different worship forms and styles of music, from traditional to contemporary, liturgical to more informal. Our two basic types of worship include The Festival Service (liturgical) and The Celebration Service (contemporary). Our Services are unified in following the same four-part basic outline: Gathering + Word + Meal + Sending. These four, which go all the way back to the early church, are the thread that weave together God's Word and Holy Communion so that the worshiper in either format experiences the wonder of God's gracious presence.
At Ascension, the dynamic music, encouraging messages, heartfelt prayers, welcoming baptisms and communions, honest testimonies, spirited people, friendly atmosphere, holy humor and commitment to Christ are all intended to communicate divine encouragement and to elevate the human spirit in awe and adoration. Our staff, leaders and members commit to attitudes that respect and accept diversity in worship because we honor all the ways which hearts ascend in reverence and joy and surrender fully to the holy, living and loving God.
