Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:37-40

Introduction

Ascension Lutheran Church’s Fall 40-Day Spiritual Growth Campaign is titled: “JUSTICE FOR THE POOR -- BE THE LIGHT.” We will have 6 weeks of small groups, 7 sermons, and 40 days of devotions for Outreach For Hope.

The Ascension Small Group spiritual grown program provides the following opportunities to it's participants:

• To discover how to love God.
• To be more like Jesus.
• To show compassion to the poor and marginalized.
• To build a more just society.
• To recapture a biblical vision that links poverty with justice.

... and so much more!

The final weekend, October 29, there will be a 6-hour workshop titled, “Doing Justice in an Unjust World” with keynote speaker, the Rev. Patrick Keen from Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Orleans. His talk is titled “Social Justice, Utilizing the Social Determinants of Health.” In the afternoon, nine agencies/ministries will offer break out groups. You may attend two break out groups.  Click here for more information on the workshop.
