What’s the status of our search for an interim associate pastor?
Pastor Frank has identified one of several candidates suggested by the
Bishop. He has had both a telephone and an in-person interview with this
candidate. Gary Draeger and Chris Holloway of Mutual Ministry interviewed
the candidate last Thursday. Pending council approval, it is very possible we
will extend an offer to hire this candidate in the near future.

When would they start work at Ascension?
Depending on how matters proceed, it’s possible an interim associate pastor
could start at Ascension in early October.

Does this person replace Pastor Jim?
The candidate would be hired on an interim basis and would do many of the
things Pastor Jim did. It’s important to understand that this person is hired,
not called. So, the interim associate pastor is hired to fill the time between
Pastor Jim’s leaving and when another pastor accepts a call from the
congregation. Synod rules do not allow the interim associate pastor to be
called as a permanent replacement.
