Dear friends in Christ,

I have written you many times over the years, but there is more urgency to this letter than perhaps any other. I’m asking you to move toward a vision with me – God’s vision of Ascension, for the sake of the future.

God’s exciting vision is filled with promise, hope and opportunity for each of us. It’s a vision of a growing church with growing ministries that touch hearts and change lives in this community and world where Christ’s love is so urgently needed.                                                           

But our vision is threatened by the debt we incurred as we boldly followed God’s vision for Ascension. Sadly, this debt is affecting how we think and what we do, or don’t do. It’s replacing hope and optimism with doubt and caution.  

With God’s help, we can take down this "Goliath Debt" and enter our future with new possibilities: Life-giving ministries growing; people coming to Christ; blessings falling on many. But it will take each of us to look deep inside and pray for God’s guidance: “Lord, what do you want to do through me to accomplish your vision for Ascension?”

Success will require meaningful sacrifice – giving up something important for something more important. Whatever you decide, make yours a gift of love from your heart. It’s not about how much we give but how much it means to us to give.

Will you help me take Goliath down? We can do this by stepping out in faith, just like David, letting God use what we have in special ways.  With God all things are possible. Please join me. Believe and Vision Ascension, for the sake of the future!
