Peer Ministry is a way of life! It is a habitual practice of living out Jesus' command to do unto the least of these, to the glory of God and service to others. Christ spent his life ministering to others - healing the sick, comforting the grieving, providing food to the hungry, and welcoming the outcasts of society. He also called all who call themselves Christians to be ministers in continuing the work he did as he encountered people in need.
Peer Ministry is an invitation! Available to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, it is part training: to equip youth leaders to heed Jesus' call to "go and do likewise;" part skill development: to nurture the emotional and spiritual lives of participants, who in turn practice these skills in daily life; and part service: both formal and informal.
Watch for more information soon about Peer Ministry at Ascension! Training will begin again in earnest in early 2010. In the meantime visit http://www.peerministry.org/growing_groups/help.php to learn more about the vision and goals behind peer ministry.
