Pastor Steve to Lead Small Group Ministry

Our prayers have been answered. We asked the Lord to send us a gifted person of faith to take over as Small Group Minister.

This staff position is vital to the health of our congregation since small groups are so important to our ministry.

Recently retired pastor Steve Kersten has been hired. Pastor Steve and his wife Judy have been attending here over recent months, will be joining Ascension, and bring many gifts of faith and experience. We thank our faithful Lord for leading them here and for calling Steve to this ministry.

Pastor Steve has been a parish pastor for 30 years, has a doctorate in evangelism and teaching groups to share faith in Jesus. He most recently served for 15 years as pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, Muskego, where he brought new members into groups, supervised small group leaders, and had groups for teens and seniors.

Steve says I want to see Jesus’ love spread to more people through active prayer, praise and thanksgiving in the local church.

Steve will meet with Sarah Grooms (thanks again to Sarah for her stellar ministry!) to transition into this role which officially begins in mid August.
